I us the image manager for uploading images, works fine, but its not showing thumbnails from folder couch/uploads/.thumbs/image/14scge4.jpg

The files are generated nut thumbnails are not accessable if I type it in my browser as well. Is it because of the "."?

Quite possible, chichi. This problem (and its solution) is documented in KCFinder's main thread (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7712). Please see the last point in the 'troubleshooting' section there.
