KK wrote: Hi Tanja,

I had a look at your setup.

To display the custom 503.php file, Couch tries to fetch the contents of that file using an HTTP request - so basically the server calls back the same server.

This is perfectly valid but some hosts (either due to paranoid level of security or some system mis-configuration) don't allow this. Unfortunately, your host seems to be one of them.

So, I am sorry, the custom 503 won't work on your system and You'll have to make do with the generic 503 (site offline) message,

Hi - I can display my custom 503.php file on my live host without issue. It is the localhost using MAMP this does not load the custom 503.php and shows the yellow box.

What setting can be changed on the localhost to get the 503.php to load on a development environment?
@Blutbaden, that is server administration territory - I am sorry but I won't be of much help to you in that.
Perhaps someone better informed would like to chip in?
