I would like to implement a way in which i can access the MySQL DB and add data such as page views e.tc... and im thinking of using the db that couch uses, but adding an extra table.

is this advisable??
im assuming i can do it the conventional php way, except this time i have to use <cms:php>...</cms:php> instead??

Yes, we can access the DB used by Couch the regular way using PHP.
No problems - just make sure you don't manage to mess up Couch's core tables

Been there, done that already. haha.
