I recently wanted to enable pretty urls at my page. At the testserver it worked great but at the live server I got a 500 Error when adding the new .htccacces file. At the documentation is mentioned this might happen at Apache versions 1.x . My hoster runs Apache 1.3.36. Is there any chance to get pretty urls running at this version? I already asked for an update of Apache but I guess they will do nothing.

I am afraid but it I don't think it'd be possible to use prettyURLs on Apache 1.3.36.
It being now more than 6 years old and used in less than 0.1% of hosts really leaves little incentive to try and find workarounds for the feature to work on it.
