So, I'm ready to migrate to the deployment server. However, when I navigate to my gen_dump.php file, nothing happens. I have to be doing something stupidly wrong, right?

All I can suggest is make sure you are logged in and possibly try a different browser.

Are you sure you've chosen the correct path to that file?
Should be "http://www.yoursite.com/couch/gen_dump.php" or whatever name you've given to your couch folder, if I am not mistaken? Just an idea from a complete CouchCMS beginner - not sure if this is any help at all.

As Solaris rightly pointed out, gen_dump.php refuses to output anything if the user is not logged-in as admin.
Please login into Couch admin-panel and then from the SAME window try manually modifying the link in the address bar to load the gen_dump.php.
If it still does not work, please PM me your site's creds (if it happens to be online).
