I've used Couch CMS many times before and generally don't have problems.

This time (on a different server than before but with the same hosting provider - Vidahost) I have run into a problem on install.

When I go to mysite.co.uk/couch to install I get a 500 Internal server error

The error log in cPanel shows:
SoftException in Application.cpp:261: File "/home/xxxx/public_html/couch/index.php" is writeable by group

I did read this thread viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7315 which shows that it might be a permissions problem but when I checked the permissions of the couch index.php file it is showing 644 which should be correct.

So I have run out of ideas - help much appreciated. Thanks!

It is a permission related error, for sure.
I'd suggest you please contact your hosting provider as he would be in a better position to give a definitive solution.
