to start with my names Simon Colton
Im currently building myself a whole website ive finally designed the site how i like it. and how i would like the design and layout to stay. I run a website Revlimit Magazine which is my hobby of motorsport and cars, and also what my friends are into and we all enjoy so started this website in 2008, its an FREE online magazine and we make no profit other than adverts and donations.

Im really confused, I'm in need of a CMS that will allow me to still have full control over my design and layout and allow me to still keep designing in CSS And HTML.

Now its not a huge problem currently as the design is there, its awesome and how i like it. Now the problem comes when adding new items. Heres why.

I currently run a Online Magazine that is going to be different to my website, but the website is part one of the company and the magazine is part two. I want to focus more on the magazine and save me some time so insted of having to keep editing everything with a code editor i could make it easyer and quicker for my members to also edit. So here goes.

What i currently have. The website currently looks like this.

So Ok now here we go, I want my members/staff to write new Articles as such. Like this one.

So we have here the Main Title, One Image, and the text.

Now thats simple you can get a really simple editor todo so, and wouldnt be a problem, but what i want is for it to go here.

I want the Title to go into a link of the page, so the page name should be the same as the title name. Take the image and resize it, and grab a few lines of the text. Now thats all well and good, but i want it so new ones are at the top and only showing 30items per page. Easy, maybe not.

Now next i want this to display 10items on the main index page here.

But i want the top 10 new items to display.


Now next i need to add some features and what we do here is have the same setup as the above post. But insted we do a few write ups about the car and display a few pictures, at the same size as the above, also use the same idea as the above by using the title as the link. But rather than going to the blogs it goes here.

And the same again as the above, have the amount set for each page of say 30items but also to display on the main index page but only the top 10 new items or 6 items here

Im currently using includes for the website but others can edit unless they know the code and half of my members / staff are not good with websites and codes and no nothing about them.


I dont need the CMS to edit anything other than that, or maybe the gallery items but thats harder than what the above are, like the other items i can do so on the website, myself, such as links ect..

I really hope you can help me as im pulling my hair out and im going bald

Hopefully you will create your entire website with couch with so much ease kindly go through the tutorials and documentation carefully.

THE only issue you will face with couch is the membership we have a very limited functionality as per membership is concern though you can create members through admin panel but they all will have same rights as the admin have.
so if you wish to use your site as a membership site i am afraid couch right not will not serve your purpose in future you will have the membership option with couch.

Apart from membership all the other things mentioned can be done with couch.
The Best thing you will like about the COUCH is you can call data from any CLONED page to any other PAGE and THE EMBED TAG.

Thanks for your speedie reply within my topic ARK.

Just one question i wanted to outline before i attemt at understanding everything relating to the code.

Regards the Membership i'm kinda confused. I have a selected team as such rather than Members ''Members'' was the wrong word before. By Team i mean the team are the ones who edit the items, write the atricales and are the only ones to use the website for LOGIN. I dont wanna do mental with the website and run a forums or anything or have members subscriptions that allow them to Post new items on the website, as this could really burn the website down. I only want my team to start new articles, these inclued, The co-director, Writters of the magazine who also do features and blog, my photogrphers.

Everyone that currently works for us are free (do it because they enjoy it) and i bare everything myself, such as the cost of running a highpowered server, the cost of domains and flyers and the cost of anything relating to us advertising, so we make no profilt and are only going to use the System to allow us to edit items fast and effective.

The way Couch stands right now, if you wish anybody to have access to the admin panel you'll have to place him in the administrator group.
You can have any number of administrators but they all will have equal privileges. What is lacking right now is granularity in permissions e.g. usually in your scenario you'd want editors to be able to create their posts and then be able to edit only their own posts. This, unfortunately, won't be possible (not in the current version atleast - this will change in the future).

If the members of your team are all trusted ones, by all means go ahead and make them all administrators and they can use the admin panel to create/edit posts, images etc.

Now im stuck.

Ive been looking here and dont understand what i need tobe doing.

LISTING CLONED PAGES - The list-view

As already discussed, http://www.mytestsite.com/blog.php is the view where we list all the existing blog entries.
Access it through your browser and you'll see that currently it is showing some hard coded HTML.
We are going to change that now to make it display pages cloned from blog.php template in descending order of their publication date.

The way we have configured it, template blog.php is using an embedded template blog_list.html to render the list-view.
File blog_list.html is where we'll make the changes now. Open it up in your text editor.

That file cant be found within the downloads as i wanted the files to reffer to while i edit mine.. im abit lost on what i need todo. such as does all the code in blog.php stay and you put in what you want to include asin all the items or not, rather confused here.

Got a little problem, the text within my blog is set as <p> blog text </p>

so when i put in <cms:show blog_content /> its using the style of the <p> anyway i can set the style to one of my other text CSS items?

such as class="text-blog" and where would it go for when listing items within my blog
