Shortcodes can be error prone and a bit off putting to the less technically minded clients. It would be great if we had functionality that allowed say a right click in the wysiwyg to bring up a list of shortcodes available. Select one of the shortcodes and a template pops up with the input fields for the client to fill in. These fields could be validated thus providing a more bullet proof and user friendly way of using shortcodes.

I was mulling over making the shortcodes appear as custom buttons in the toolbar.
Some types of shortcodes can be replicated with CKEditor widgets:

You do have to be somewhat comfortable with JavaScript though...
