The best solution, as explained there, seems to be to unpublish the page (so that it does not appear in any listings) and to rename it to something clear like 'DO NOT DELETE' (this would prevent the site-owner from inadvertently deleting this page which would cause the "Default page for xxxxxxxxx.php * PLEASE CHANGE..." page to get recreated).
