I just have a few questions about the CMS If i could. I appreciate your help!

1) How easy is Couch to update? Will it affect my current website if I update (I don't want it to ruin it!)
2) Can backups of the site be made?
3)Can you run maintenance mode on local (tried but didn't seem to work)?
4) Is there an easy way to rid the .php extension, or is this done by the htaccess file.

Hi,

I take by update you meant updating Couch from one version to the next. If so, as things stand right now, one can safely upgrade even the four year old v1.0 to the latest without breaking anything.

2) Can backups of the site be made?

There is no dedicated addon for this purpose (yet) although the gen_dump utility, meant for migrating sites, (http://www.couchcms.com/docs/miscellane ... erver.html) can be used to take a backup of the database.

3)Can you run maintenance mode on local (tried but didn't seem to work)?

Not sure why you'd want to put a local site in maintenance mode but, yes, it works just the same as on the hosted site. Admins are always allowed access so try visiting the site while you are not logged-in to see if it works.

4) Is there an easy way to rid the .php extension, or is this done by the htaccess file.

PrettyURLs (http://www.couchcms.com/docs/concepts/pretty-urls.html) remove the php extension. Please see the docs for details.
