Can I alter the location of the files (pdf etc) and images uploaded through Couch Admin? Can you guide?

EDIT: I found the answer to my question here: http://www.couchcms.com/docs/tags-refer ... /file.html

Question: Would this change for all uploads? I want to maintain separate folders depending on the page view. Can this be handled?
Hi,
Would this change for all uploads?
Yes. It changes the base location where all images get uploaded.

I want to maintain separate folders depending on the page view. Can this be handled?
Not automatically, I am afraid. The client will have to manually choose the sub-folder where the file gets saved.

Hope that answers your query.

How will the client choose? From the file path that appears on the admin side? The CMS user is a non-technical person. How do they make folder choice? I dont even see the listed folder in the "upload" window to select from. Can you elaborate on this?
Can you elaborate on this?
Sure.

If you are not using the new file manager (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7712), I suggest you download and use it now.

As can be seen from the image above, the sidebar shows the 'images' folder (the one we configured in the first post) and all the sub-folders present within it. Of course if there are no subfolders yet, none will be shown.

You (or your client) can create new sub-folders by right-clicking on the 'images' top folder and choosing the option from the context menu.

I suggest to create the desired folder hierarchy before hand and instruct the client to choose the right folder to upload the image to.

Hope this helps.
Thanks, this looks good, I will give it a try and get back to you on it.

Also, out-of-the-topic questio; Nearing completion of this project I aim to buy the Couch commercial license. What happens every time there is a new release? Do I have to update manually? How does the update work? I hope none of the available features go void or something.

Yes. The procedure essentially consists of overwriting the 'couch' folder with the new one. You'll find a file names 'UPGRADE.txt' in the installation zip that has complete details.

As of the current version, one can safely upgrade even the very first version of Couch that released nearly 4 years ago. So, no worries on this front :)
