It's my first time creating a search form on couchcms and I have created it by following the search tutorials and it's partly working

I have two cloned pages called Artist One and Artist Two based on a template file called artist.php.

In the search bar, I type artist one and it shows the results for Artist One and Artist Two, I'm guessing this is because I typed the keyword artist in and it's matching the name in the search results

So then I typed in one in the search bar thinking it would just show the search result for Artist One but it's not showing any results. Have I missed something in the code or need to amend some of the code for it to work correctly?

Below is what I have in my header.php file
Code: Select all
<cms:form method="get" action="<cms:link 'search-results.php' />" anchor='0' class="hdSearchForm">
                                                <div class="input-group">
                                                    <cms:input type="text" class="form-control" value="" name="s" />
                                                    <div class="input-group-append">
                                                        <button class="btn btn-secondary" type="submit" name="submit">
                                                            <i class="icomoon-search"><span class="sr-only">search</span></i>
                                                        </button>
                                                    </div>
                                                    </cms:form>

Below is what I have in search-results.php page
Code: Select all
<cms:search masterpage='artist.php, artists.php' >
        <cms:if k_paginated_top >
            <div>
                <cms:show k_total_records /> Pages Found -
                displaying: <cms:show k_record_from />-<cms:show k_record_to />
            </div>
        </cms:if>

        <h3><a href="<cms:show k_page_link />"><cms:show k_search_title /></a></h3>
        <cms:show k_search_excerpt />
        <hr>
    </cms:search>
MySQL, by default, has a limitation of not searching words with less than 4 characters - the 'one' you tried to search would fall in that.

If it interests you, following is a workaround for bringing down this limit from 4 to 3 -

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much KK, that works perfect.

Would it be ok to ask if you know a solution for my other two posts please

For the one below, I have put code in and displaying images from the gallery and seems to be displaying images from the same artists, I was hoping there was a way I could just display 1 image from each artist page/template
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13447

Below is the code I used for the above link
Code: Select all
<cms:pages masterpage="gallery.php" include_subfolders='1' limit='8'>
                        <div class="col-12 col-sm-4 col-md-3">
                            <figure class="galFig galFigII mb-0 position-relative mx-auto mx-md-0 mb-6">
                                <a data-fancybox="gallery" href="<cms:show gg_image/>">
                                    <img src="<cms:show gg_image/>" class="img-fluid" alt="image description">
                                </a>
                                <div class="gafCaption inaccessible d-flex align-items-center justify-content-center text-center text-white w-100 h-100">
                                    <div class="wrap w-100 p-4">
                                        <i class="rounded-circle icnWrap icomoon-search bg-brown d-flex align-items-center justify-content-center mx-auto mb-2"><span class="sr-only">icon</span></i>
                                        <!--<h3 class="text-white mb-0"><cms:show artist_name/></h3>-->
                                    </div>
                                </div>
                            </figure>
                        </div>
                    </cms:pages>

More than that → "one" appears in the `stop words` list and never indexed.

Ahh ok, learn something new everyday. the artist names will change luckily as I just used artist one and artist two as examples to show it working

Here is the stopwords list for MyISAM fulltext table (which Couch still uses) (ref: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en ... words.html)

It is recommended for a web developer to know the docs to the used database. Couch-wise, this is not the first thing to learn, but eventually over years, a moment comes where going through MySQL Reference Manual attentively puts a developer two grades above self for real.
Thank you appreciate it, is good info to know and can refer to it when needed
