re the 'download dump' link - I add a link in the admin panel for my clients to download/backup their data - this was mainly because I perceived 1and1.co.uk to be absolutely hopeless when it came to backup/restore for individual clients. I now recommend and use a different host for new clients. But if it were an option to include in the Admin Panel for non-superadmins then I would include it.

Re the logout icon - I'd stick with it. Frankly, you click on something you didn't mean to once - then you learn from that and don't do it again!

Re the colour brown - I think it is a difficult 'digital' colour - it can look a bit sludgy and dour. But because there's a choice I don't think it matters!
Design is great, UI is user friendly, everything works well as far as I can tell. I tested the responsiveness with http://quirktools.com , it works down to smartphone landscape 320x533... Cool!

When is the new version 1.4.5 scheduled to be released? If it's only few days let us know. I need to start 2 new websites for my customers, if it's a matter of days, I can wait - just to try the new version!!!

Greet job Cheesy. Congrats are in order! (again)
Cheers,
Paolo
Hi @cheesypoof I really like the new admin design, I´m giving it a try and it works great, i think something usefull for the next release would be the ability to show groups editable regions in the popup edit
Lately I've been thinking about using a webfont in the admin panel... I don't like the idea of adding additional page weight, but I really find Arial (on Windows) to be unimpressive when compared to for example Helvetica Neue (on Apple devices).

I have added a font toggle to the mockup. Do let me know if you have any preferences between the standard font stack "Helvetica Neue, Arial, sans-serif" and Roboto. Thanks!
@cheesypoof - I'm on Windows ... I could detect very little difference between the 2 - Roboto just a little narrower and on some strings of text a little less bold.
@cheesypoof, if use not 'safe' webfont for Admin, it will be neccessary to include Extended UTF-8 symbols for a lot of languages - Cyrillic, RTL (Arabic etc), so the font weight will be more than 250kb. Maybe it would be better to use safe Tahoma for Windows?
The fonts are quite similar but I do find Roboto to be more readable. Nevertheless, I can easily see others disagreeing with that conclusion. I won't proceed with the webfont matter.

Good point about the latin extended issue @Musman.
Suggestion: Any chance we could get at least one design agnostic color scheme for the re-design? i.e. a shade of gray perhaps.

This way somebody wanting to white label the CMS is not forced to use one of the 5 color choices... Brown, Purple, Green, Red, or Blue on the backend.
Hi and welcome @Mogeek,

We haven't decided yet whether these alternate color styles will be included in the core files. They may merely end up being posted in the Tips and Tricks forums section as examples of how one can tweak the admin panel appearance.

I tried to implement gray, but it looked quite odd and I found it to be hard on the eyes because there was so little contrast. I will revisit this another time.

Do let us know if you have any other admin panel suggestions.
When will this update be available?
