Hi,

The main French version of my client's site is ready, and he has asked me to look into creating the secondary English version.

I followed KK's advice and put the French site in a /fr subfolder. The English version will be in a /en folder. At the domain root, the index.php file just does a redirect towards the French homepage.

I understand that I should "clone" the French site into the /en folder, adjust all the URLs etc and create relationships with the origianl site in the /fr folder so as not to have duplicate images.

However, even though the structure is clean in the front end, I am concerned that in the Admin the list of pages in the sidebar will simply double up and become extremely long, with duplicates everywhere. I am concerned that as a result of this "messy" backend, users may mistakenly edit the wrong pages.

Is there any way that the pages listed in the Admin can be put into folders? Can we replicate the /fr and /en structure in the Admin too (in some way)?

Or is there another technique to making bilingual sites that is easier to work with?

I just completed similar job for @diverso.

If you have some money i can do it for you.
Let me know what is comfortable sum for you for such a help.

You can also put a divider between 2 duplicated templates.

Also put 'en' to template titles as superscript to visually indicate them.

It is possible though to make folder approach with hidden templates and fetch data from old 2-language templates. So every editable will have two versions and templates in folders will be hidden and fetch data from nonhidden ones.
