I have activated pretty URL's locally. But, as soon I view the page it gives me a 404 not found error page. It wasn't given me this at first; When I had pretty URL's off. I downloaded the rewrite.php to see if Pretty URL's will work and it said it does and I went to gen_htaccess.php in my couch folder and copied and pasted the code for the .htaccess file. Any help would be great.

I was also wondering could I take off the .html extension?

Thanks!
Hi and welcome @drugsarebad (totally agree with your handle :) )

From what you mentioned, you have already taken all necessary steps involved in configuring prettyURLs (people mostly forget to recreate the .htaccess file after adding new templates).

Sorry if this sounds silly but have you placed the .htaccess file in your site's root i.e. Couch's parent folder and not Couch's folder? I've seen this happen too.

I can't think of any more suggestions, really.

I was also wondering could I take off the .html extension?
I am afraid that won't be possible as Couch reserves the non-dot-html names for folders. Doing this will confuse it.
Sorry about that I was up late at night doing the project and I did forget to put it the root. :D. But, one more thing that I might need help with is when I hit view on the page I get the pretty URL but on my screen its showing my localhost root files instead of the page. I have attached screenshot below.

Thanks.

Ok, I assume the non-prettyURL version of your site is working as expected.
If so, I suggest you please leave the prettyURLs off while the site resides on the localhost.
Complete the site, move it online to a proper server and then turn on prettyurls.

Chances are you won'r run into any of the problems you see on localhost.
And even if you happen to run into any, atleast I'll be able to access the site and try and do something useful - something not possible now.

Thanks.
