Recently I created a website for Ann's Daycare in Irvine, California (USA), which you can visit at: http://www.irvinehomedaycare.com/

Be sure to re-size your browser window so you can see the responsive layout in action. Powered by CouchCMS. :)

I like your design, the colors, and the responsiveness!
On the other hand, as a parent and potential customer, I would miss some photos of the people I might entrust my children to...
Some pics of lucky children wouldn't hurt either. :)
But I guess that's your client's decision.
As to your part of the job, as I said, I like it!

I agree with you, the lack of photos leaves something to be desired. Ultimately though, posting pictures of other people's children is a tricky matter. I am working with the client to rectify this. Thank you for the insightful feedback Solaris, you raised some valid points.

I think the design is simple and easy. Not clutted and works really well.

I agree here, maybe a staff page with some information about that member of staff would be great. However the ending touch and go. You dont want to really go down that route as children on a website end in you getting into trouble with or without the permission of the parent.

I guess you are both absolutely right with your concerns about the legal aspect, but I think there wouldn't be any problem showing stock photos of happy children or toddlers, e.g.

http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-15647022-little-girl-eating-watermelon.php
http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-13543475-little-girl-with-paint-on-her-hands.php
http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-12465487-boy-eating-breakfast.php

or finding any others using search words such as "happy children daycare" etc. on platforms such as, e.g., iStockphoto.com:

http://www.istockphoto.com/search/text/happy%20children%20daycare/filetype/photos/source/basic

But that's just an aside, as it doesn't actually refer to the CMS aspect. :)

Until your post I hadn't put much thought into using stock photography. I had always viewed it as something that other people used, but not me. There definitely are projects that necessitate this type of imagery. Take a look at the updated screenshot. Thanks for the enlightening Solaris.

Hi cheesypoof,
That's a huge improvement, IMHO :)
It's so much more convincing with these pictures of toddlers, and you've chosen a convincing selection (motifs and colors)!

Same here, by the way, and I still don't like it, in most contexts. But here, I find it absolutely convincing and, as you say,

To be honest, the only thing I would still be missing now as a parent is a photo on the about page showing the people that I am entrusting my children with.

Edit: It just occurred to me that stock photography itself with its mostly faked perfection might be one of the reasons for some people not to show their own pictures (apart from privacy reasons, of course, but IMHO that's more of an aspect with websites of individuals). As a parent, I would just expect some friendly faces here (group photo, with no "faked beauty" expectations at all) and find it more convincing than a flower.
